A Generalized Sampling Theorem for Stable Reconstructions in Arbitrary Bases
We introduce a generalized framework for sampling and reconstruction in separable Hilbert spaces. Specifically, we establish that it is always possible to stably reconstruct a vector in an arbitrary Riesz basis from sufficiently many of its samples in any other Riesz basis. This framework can be viewed as an extension of the well-known consistent reconstruction technique (Eldar et al). However,...
متن کاملA generalized representation theorem for Harsanyi's ('impartial') observer
We provide an axiomatization of an additively separable social welfare function in the context of Harsanyi’s impartial observer theorem. To do this, we reformulate Harsanyi’s setting to make the lotteries over the identities the observer may assume independent of the social alternative.
متن کاملShape Representation Using a Generalized Potential Field Model
This paper is concerned with efficient derivation of the medial axis transform of a two-dimensional polygonal region. Instead of using the shortest distance to the region border, a potential field model is used for computational efficiency. The region border is assumed to be charged and the valleys of the resulting potential field are used to estimate the axes for the medial axis transform. The...
متن کاملA generalized parametric 3D shape representation for articulated pose estimation
We present a novel parametric 3D shape representation, Generalized sum of Gaussians (G-SoG), which is particularly suitable for pose estimation of articulated objects. Compared with the original sum-of-Gaussians (SoG), G-SoG can handle both isotropic and anisotropic Gaussians, leading to a more flexible and adaptable shape representation yet with much fewer anisotropic Gaussians involved. An ar...
متن کاملGENERALIZED PRINCIPAL IDEAL THEOREM FOR MODULES
The Generalized Principal Ideal Theorem is one of the cornerstones of dimension theory for Noetherian rings. For an R-module M, we identify certain submodules of M that play a role analogous to that of prime ideals in the ring R. Using this definition, we extend the Generalized Principal Ideal Theorem to modules.
